New Hire Spotlight: Andres Urdaneta

At haku, we pride ourselves on a diverse and unique collection of talent and personalities. One of the newest members of our haku family is Andres Urdaneta. Born in Maracaibo, Venezuela. Graduated in 2017 from Law School at La Universidad Del Zulia and moved to Miami right after. Let’s get to know him a little more!

What's your role at haku?

I’m a Software Engineer, and my tasks revolve around our international expansion efforts. I’ll be working on making our platform accessible from anywhere in the world and that we show the correct language and currency. 

How would you describe yourself to someone who’s never met you?

I am easygoing and quiet.

How did you get into the tech industry? 

I've always been passionate about coding. When I moved to Miami I started working as a musician and then started creating websites for my musician friends as another source of income. I was able to get a scholarship at Wyncode and that's how my career as a developer really started. 

If you were not a software engineer, what would your career path have been? 

I would probably be a starving musician/producer that would get discovered two centuries from now. But as soon as I discovered computers I stuck to it — I don’t see myself doing something else right now.

What has been a memorable life experience for you? 

Moving from my homeland to the US has been by far the most challenging thing I’ve ever done. I was young, naive, and on my own. That has been extremely memorable for me to this date.

What are some of your hobbies?  

Listening to music—lately, lots of 90’s DnB Shoegaze—, playing guitar and recording my music. Programming fun side-projects and camping as much as possible.

Do you have any unique talents?

I don't practice table tennis and I never had one but people find it pretty difficult to beat me at it.
